Hi guys! Time for a review.
First is the song Already Over by Red. This song relies alot on orchestra, not a whole hell of a lot of guitar happening on this song. The vocal is very good, alot of emotion in the song, extremely good. I do feel however a little more could be done with the guitar in some places, and thats my biggest complaint with the song. It's still good though. 8/10
Now for Relient K's Mmhmm. Now Relient K is a Christian punk rock band. This album put them on the map as it was released during the last big wave of punk music to hit, a wave that included Yellowcard, Bayside, all that good stuff. So is it any good?
Now this album is punk. From start to finish, it doesn't stray from that punk sound, from the production to the overall song structure. Of course, this also means the music is simple. No riffing, just chords and progressions and whatnot, so nothing there. Drums aren't doing much, it's simple music. But I also think this is a flaw. It's too simple. There isn't enough there to merit several listens to this album.
That being said, this is a good punk rock album. It has everything you could want in a punk album. I think it does well, particularly in the vocal department. It just wears thin quickly.
Pros:Songs are catchy
Vocals are good
Cons:Simplistic music
Not much replay value
So I'm going to give Mmhmm a 7/10. If it had more to offer in the replay department it'd get a solid 8.
Well thats it this time. See ya!
