I'm back....to post a blog no one reads! But I do it anyway....(sigh)
Anyway, this review is for Ghost's new album Opus Eponymous. It's also their debut album. This album is receiving great reviews and is rapidly growing in popularity overseas, already locking up a main stage act for some major festival over there, and all that stuff. But the thing that makes these guys interesting is they're completely anonymous. They dress up in these cloaks and stuff, it's really cool.
Now onto the music. It sounds like 70s metal. And...it's bringing back something thats been gone for a very long time. The vocals are fantastic, the harmonies and just the delivery are great. You throw in great guitar, a decent bassline, and ok drumming, and you somehow wind up with a masterpiece. The production of this album is amazing, it's super clean and very pure sounding, it's good.
The last thing that needs to be addressed is the lyrics. They are super satanic. And while that doesn't bother me, it certainly is bothering others. Just a fair warning if you decide to listen.
Pros:Virtually everything.
Cons:the lyrics really come across kind of cheesy.
This album is getting a 9.5/10 from me. It'd get a perfect score if the lyrics weren't so damn cheesy!
Leave comments, tell me what you want reviewed next if anything, and I'll see you guys next time.
